I was cresting Broadway en route to the Davis T stop and I saw a group of runners on the horizon take the corner. I thought it was a small running group - but it ended up being the lead pack of the Somerville Runner's CLub St. Patrick's Day Road Race. It was cool seeing the street overtaken by runners. The mass of bobbing people stretched about half a mile, or so it seemed. It was also somewhat surreal because in the stretch of road I was at, there were no spectators - so it was like I was dreaming. Or that I was the only one seeing it.
Then it made me think - if all these hundreds of people of all ages, shapes and sizes can trudge along, there is nothing stopping me from continuing to get in shape.
