Holy Mucus Batman

I always get uncomfortable when someone sneezes and I am the only other person in the room. I am not very religious and feel that the whole blessing tradition is mildly preposterous.

I genuinely do not feel that the holy spirit or whatever is escaping through said person's nostrils.

If we are going to bless sneezes, why stop there - let's bless all bodily expulsions.

I was satnding in the interminable line at the Davis Square Citizen's Bank this morning and the chap in front of me sneezed and when he did, several anonymous "bless you's" were popped up by the snake of people behind me in line. After the third sneeze he slightly turned around and said "Thanks".

Then the irritated teller said "Next person pleeeaasse!"

She did not see the diminutive old lady creeping towards, slightly lower than the counter.
