I brought a technical manuscript home for the weekend to do a design quality check on, but haven't quite got around to doing it. There was a lot of snow Friday so we were told to leave early by about 3 hours.
I'm thinking about how I would always load my bags up with earnest intentions on the Friday afternoons in high school and then procrastinate all weekend.
One time, in 10th grade, I swung around and hammer-threw my green polo bag-my Chicago Grandmother had given me-over the fence of the old people's apartments on the way home from school. When I went back later that day, it was gone.
I just got to the part in AHWOSG when Dave Eggers hangs out with Puck and Judd from the Real World and they all have their pictures taken naked for his magazine MIght.
The time was San Fransisco - 1993, and a lot of things were starting to happen there near South park. I was a junior at the state college outside of Boston, and was now and again working on a little literary magazine with my firend called "Life Underwater".
I just realized that.
Our circulation was about 100 compared to Might's 10,000 compared to the Real World's millions. I was flipping through the channels and Puck was just getting married on the Real World/ Road Rules Challenge.
It was funny reading the parts in the book about Judd. I always thought Judd was sort of earnest and funny. He married the Asian docotor on the show and published that cartoon book about living with Pedro. Maybe the San Fransisco Real World was one of the more seminal seasons of the show's history because of the changes the country was going through.
I can just imagine myself drinking that soda. Glug glug.
All we have to drink in the house is a half pint of tequila, water and some milk.
I'm joing the gym on Friday. Last year I joined the gym for 3 months and went once. I have no excuse now, its right around the corner and I have plenty of free time during the week because my work commute is 10 minutes.
My brother likes to say, for no particulat reason, in Maine accent,
"Ahh yeah, you can get there from here".
