Bardem to tour college campuses in Anton Chigurh Presents

(Los Angeles) Taking a cue from John C. Reilly's recent promotional tour of college campuses as Dewey Cox, Paramount Vantage today announced that Academy Award nominee Javier Bardem will tour 6 select colleges to promote the Coen brothers Golden Globe nominated film, No Country for Old Men.

Bardem, who has been acting since age 6, has written a 45 minute multi-media stage show entitled, "Anton Chigurh Presents". The show will be a mix of stand-up, poetry and original musical numbers inspired by the film. A leaked version of "Lips Like Chigurh" has already appeared on The Pirate Bay. The show will also be interactive: 2 audience members will be chosen per show to appear onstage with Bardem for the Coin-Toss segment and "Let Me Buy Your Shirt".

Augmenting the full-out marketing blitz, Paramount Vantage will also be selling Anton Chigurh wigs at the merchandise stands and a No Country for Old Men branded super-soaker. Buzz in the industry is that other cast members might appear in cameo roles as their schedules allows.

"I toured Spain as a teenager with an acting troop; and this will be a great way for me to return to my live performanc roots," said Bardem at the LA press conference announcing the tour.

At first skeptical of the promotional stunt, the Coen Brothers were won over after seeing how Bardem's show paid tribute to the movie.

"We needed an actor who would be able to flesh out Chigurh in a substantial way, but also without giving away too much, and keeping that sense of mystery. Hence, Javier Bardem." said Joel Coen.

Highlights of the college tour will be included on the Criterion Collection expanded DVD version of the movie, scheduled for release in April 2008.

The tour was brokered by Creative Artists Agency.
