The new ICA opened on the Boston waterfront today. Their upcoming program of talks and events looks interesting.
I remember going to the cramped Boylston Street former location during high school and seeing an installation by Yoko One where everybody could hammer a nail into a giant wooden cross. Another installation involved a turnstile at the door and a giant vice device. Supposedly, if enough people saw the exhibit - the walls of the gallery would be smashed by the vice.
I hope the new home for the ICA will challege Bostonian's notions of what is art for decades to come.
