| Yesterday, for lack of anything else to do, I timed how long it took me to ascend the two long escalators at Porter. A one way trip was approximately 2:40. So, at about 5 minutes a day: 25 minutes a week x 50 weeks: the average commuter spends about 20 hours a year riding the metal stairs. | almost Originally uploaded by bkerr. |

I always try to climb those stairs; it's a nice bit of exercise. Let's see, 117 steps, 4 times a week, 48 times a year... that's 22,464 steps a year.
Yeah - if I could muster up the energy to do that everyday that could probably take the place of the gym. I tried the first set once and had to stop 2/3rds of the way up and almost fainted.
