| You learn something new everday on Flickr: Daniel Burnham built this, New York's first modern steel-frame skyscraper and one of the very first anywhere, in 1902. It commands the intersection of 23rd Street and Broadway. The acute angle of the building causes unusual wind currents at street level, and they used to have to post police to keep guys from gathering to watch the wind lift the skirts of women on 23rd Street. The cops would roust the cads with the cry '23 Skiddoo!' | Flatiron Building Originally uploaded by Vidiot. |
