Comparative Film Posters 101
Me thinks the poster designer for 2005's as yet unreleased Havoc (starring Anne Hathaway) took some visual cues from the design of the 1995 poster for Kids (starring Chloe Sevigny and the late Justin Pierce as Casper. It is eerie that actor Justin Pierce appears in the "D" square of the Kids poster.}
Perhaps duotone images and white type are the universal iconography for troubled coming of age movies.
Sevigny went on from her controversial fillm debut to be nominated for an Oscar for Boys Don't Cry and recently star in another controversial film, Brown Bunny directed by Buffalo's favorite son Vincent Gallo. Anne Hathaway looks to shed her tween idol image in this gritty movie about "Two affluent suburban girls who clash with the Latino gang culture of East LA" {maybe the suburban girls get hooked on Moz? - ed.} from Traffic scribe Stephen Gaghan.
